The Rev. Kristen Tossell Pitts recently earned her Master of Divinity at Virginia Theological Seminary and is currently a transitional deacon from the Diocese of Upper South Carolina. She grew up in a rural area near Greenville, South Carolina and completed her undergraduate studies at Furman University. Prior to seminary, she taught high school English and was very active in leadership at her sponsoring parish. More recently, she has worked for the Center for the Ministry of Teaching, where she focused on curriculum and related formation resources. Her other ministry interests include pastoral care, social justice, and the calling of all baptized persons to ministry.
Outside of work, she enjoys photography, reading, and seeking out the best vegan foods in DC with her wife, Beth, who is a lawyer with the Department of Health and Human Services. They married in April and now live in Takoma Park with their two cats, Sebastian and Scuttle.
Kristen looks forward to meeting everyone and is excited to join in ministry with the community of St. Andrew's as we strive to live out our mission.
